About Us

Kigezi Kinimba Actors, founded in 1986 in Kabale District, Uganda, is a group of competent, experienced, and multilingual drama and music experts. With a mission of “Enlightenment through Culture,” we have performed across Western and Southwestern Uganda, at the national level, and internationally, including in South Africa. Our group was established under the chairmanship of Mr. Rukanga Abraham (RIP), a professional teacher with a Diploma in Music, Dance, and Drama from Makerere University.

Our Projects

  • 1993 – Ministry of Health: Composed and staged Endagano (The Vow), a play about HIV/AIDS.
  • 1993 – Ministry of Health: Composed Omukago (Inheritance), a play about HIV/AIDS, performed at the National Theatre and Southwestern Region.
  • 1996 – Southwestern Towns Water and Sanitation: Composed Amaizi Marungi, a play still staged in the Southwestern Region.
  • 1998 – UNFPA: Composed and acted in a play about Reproductive Health.
  • 1998 – Ministry of Gender: Composed and acted in a play about small-scale income-generating projects.
  • 1998 – Ministry of Gender: Composed Bagooka, a play about women as the “donkey of the family,” performed for Kabale District leaders.
  • 1998 – Uganda Wildlife Authority: Composed a play on conservation and environmental protection, trained two drama groups around Lake Mburo.
  • 1999 – CARE Kasese: Trained four drama groups in Environmental Protection and Water & Sanitation around Lake George.
  • 1999 – CARE Kasese: Composed Give and Take (Mpankuhe), staged in Kasese, Bushenyi, and Rukungiri.
  • 2000 – CARE Kabale: Composed and trained a play about the empowerment of the Batwa community in Kisoro District.
  • 2000 – Southwestern Towns Water and Sanitation: Composed and presented an Ecological Sanitation play in South Africa.
  • 2001 – MBIFCT: Facilitated two drama groups in Kanungu and Kisoro on Environmental Protection.
  • 2001 – MBIFCT: Trained ABAMARARUNGU Drama Group near Mount Muhabura on Environmental Management.
  • 2002 – Africa Highlands Initiative: Composed and trained MUGURI Drama Groups on Soil Erosion and Conservation in Kabale.
  • 2003 – MBIFCT: Trained the Batwa group in Buhoma on Soil Conservation.
  • 2004 – Ministry of Health/UNICEF: Facilitated 12 drama group leaders in Mityana on Water and Sanitation messages.
  • 2004 – NEEMA: Composed and trained a play on Environmental Protection.
  • 2004 – ICRAF/AFRICARE: Composed a play about Soil Erosion and Conservation in Kabale.
  • 2004 – AFRICARE Kabale: Composed and staged plays on soil conservation and rural road construction in Kigezi Region.
  • 2005 – Nature Uganda: Trained Karengyere Drama Group on Conservation near Echuya Forest.
  • 2005 – NARO: Composed a play about potato diseases and treatment for farmers in Kabale.
  • 2006 – CARE Kabale: Composed and staged a Reproductive Health play.
  • 2006 – CARE Kasese: Composed a play about the empowerment of ethnic minorities around Queen Elizabeth National Park.
  • 2007 – Nature Uganda: Trained six primary schools in Kabale and Kisoro on forest conservation.
  • 2007 – MBIFCT: Composed songs and dances for the Batwa of Kanungu on forest conservation.
  • 2008 – MBIFCT: Trained Bwindi Actors on village savings and animal problem management.
  • 2009 – MBIFCT: Trained teachers in Kanungu on sustainable management for School Water Project.
  • 2009 – MBIFCT: Trained Bwindi Actors in MDD messages related to water and sanitation.
  • 2010 – MBIFCT: Designed an MDD syllabus for water schools in Kanungu focusing on safe water.
  • 2010/2011 – Ministry of Water and Environment: Composed Kitandugaho, a play about valley dams, staged in Rakai.
  • 2010/2011 – Ministry of Water and Environment: Trained Bukaara Drama Actors in water and sanitation messages in Mpigi.
  • 2012-2024 – Ministry of Water and Environment: Composed three plays about Mobilization, Sanitation, and Maintenance, performed in Southwestern Uganda.
